Dynamic balancing machines E5 & E6

General Description

The Dynamic Balancing Machine is designed to measure and correct the static and dynamic unbalance of an object. The test validates the prediction of the test object's physical properties, which is of major importance for the attitude control of the spacecraft.

Although, space hardware is the most common hardware to be tested, all kind of equipment, not only related to space activities, can be tested on this mass properties facility. When installed inside the LSS under rough vacuum, the dynamic unbalance can be measured without the influence and error caused by air drag.

The balancing machine

can be used for:

  • Determination of static unbalance (centre of gravity offset) and couple unbalance (principal axis of inertia inclination).
  • Dynamic balancing with two-plane indication.
