MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
On-board computer and data handling, including Data Handling HW implementation of deep machine learning and artificial intelligence for co-engineered applications (TEC collaboration) for space systems development and engineering of the computer, data management, data communication and data storage systems including development of libraries / algorithms / drivers HW and non-HW elements (co-engineered with the Software Systems Division)
On-board payload data processing systems, including high-speed networks, high-end digital signal processors and image processing computers in close collaboration with the Radio Frequency Payloads and Technology Division
Microelectronic devices and systems used both on-board and on the ground, including development of radiation hardening techniques for such systems. Design methodologies and development of for ASICs, Systems on Chip, ASSPs, Mixed signal front-ends, ADCs & DACs, General purpose European micro-processors, New IP Cores, Development of European sourced FPGAs, Semiconductor Photonic Microelectronics (analogue, digital and mixed analogue/digital)
EEE Component Technologies and Development (Passive, Photonic, Si, Microwave, Hybrid and Packaging, Micro and Nano Technology, EEE Component Advanced Manufacturing) in all domains. Ensuring quality and reliability of related EEE Components manufacturing and usage
Managing COTS activities related to the responsibility areas of the Division (Data Systems, Microelectronics and EEE Components)
Development of in-flight experiments for demonstration and verification of data system architecture concepts, components and technologies developed under Data System & Microelectronic Division responsibility
Managing the Data Systems and Microelectronics Laboratory. Carrying out the day-to-day laboratory operations in support of engineering research and development and support of ESA programmes. The laboratory consist of the following facilities:
