Radiation shielding is essential to protect sensitive space hardware from the space environment, especially electronics and electrical systems, as well as for protection of crew for human spaceflight.
This short workshop aims to map the current state of the art in Europe in the field of radiation shielding for space applications, and to define areas for future research. This will include traditional approaches to radiation shielding as well novel shielding techniques which could be enabling technologies for future missions.&nbsp;
Experts working in non-space domain are also very welcome to attend.&nbsp;

The ISD is organised by the SME section in the ESA Directorate of Controlling, Finance and Operational Procurement to foster cooperation between different actors in the entire space sector.
Key elements of the event include:

<li>pre-scheduled 1-on-1 meetings to establish new contacts in an efficient and time-saving manner</li>
<li>an exhibition with ESA and industry booths and the possibility to engage with future partners</li>
<li>keynotes and panel discussions with contributions by ESA, industry, investors and institutional partners</li>
<li>ESA presentations and workshops about business opportunities and future activities</li>
