80kN Shaker Facility

General Description

The 80kN shaker facility can accommodate test articles from small component levels up to small S/C or S/C subsystems with maximum static loads of 900kg in vertical and 2000kg in horizontal configuration. 

The 80kN shaker is a mid-size water-cooled electro-dynamic shaker based on a long-stroke vibrator V964 with a nominal thrust of 80kN continuous. The shaker facility can be configured for vertical or horizontal excitation direction, thereby allowing for full 3-axes vibration test performance. 

The facility operates in a frequency regime of 3Hz - 2500Hz.

Test modes

The vibration input is generated by a state-of-the-art vibration controller with up to 40 control and measurement channels, all usable for test article response limiting. 

A variety of types of excitation is available, such as: 

  • Sine testing, e.g. sine sweep, tracked sine dwell
  • Random testing
  • Transient testing, e.g. classic half sine shock, saw-tooth, transient waveform replication/SRS 

If the 40 channels from the vibration controller are not enough, the test article responses can be measured by a dedicated mechanical data handling system, offering up to 800 channels.

Mechanical Interface

The test article can be mounted either directly on the shaker armature interface, on a standard adapter plate, attached to a cube (various sizes available), or on top of a light composite head expander that offers an increased mounting surface with a 80x80mm M10 hole pattern for the vertical configuration. 

For horizontal configuration, the shaker can be coupled to a slip table that provides a usable area of 1000mm x 1100mm.
