Thermal Data handing Facility

General Description

Thermal Data Handling (TDH) facilities are a computer based system that automates the thermal testing of spacecraft and other equipment.

The main functions of the TDH are:

  • Data acquisition,
  • Data presentation,
  • Power supply control.

The TDH can be used anywhere in the test centre and can be used for different acquisition purposes independently in parallel.

Power supply control, data processing and data presentation is done by STAMP (System for Temperature Analysis Measurement and Power supply).

STAMP is a client-server system running on a network of computers and allows to distribute the processing over as many computers as deemed necessary to perform a specific task, providing redundancies at the same time.

Number of measurements channels available to customer

  • Channels available with the current configuration and distribution of card type.(4xNgDCU + 1xVTR). Other configurations are possible after reconfiguring the MS (shroud-3 removal). It should be noted that only 4 NgDCU/SMDCU units can be installed in total.
  • Can only be used as an alternative to the T-type VTR channels
  • Using 10 scanners. Sensor routed directly to flanges. Only possible in tests without S/C rotation. The number of scanners maybe limited or extended depending on availability of feedthroughs.

Interface:

Inside the LSS the Spacecraft is installed on a versatile slip ring unit (SRU) with allows cable routing of signal and power lines, as well as measurement channels even with a spinning motion.

SRU main characteristics: connectors and channels.
