Electrical Engineering Support

The Electrical Department is responsible for executing activities in the following domains:
E2E systemsAntenna/payloads/instruments and RF/digital technologies for navigationRemote sensingTelecomScienceExplorations missionsPre-commercial and commercial user segmentSecurity and accreditation engineeringElectromagnetic waves propagationInteractions and compatibilitySpace environmentsPower systemsOn-board telemetryTracking & commandPayload data transmissionData handling for payloads and platforms computers and microelectronicsEEE component technologies.

The Electrical Engineering Department team at ESTEC face the challenge of designing, analysing, manufacturing and testing the very broad range of space electrical and electronic systems, advising ESA projects and implementing R&D activities to develop technologies for future missions and in support of ESA Member States’ competitiveness.

The multidisciplinary department team of experts is able to support internal and external customers in developing E2E system solutions in the areas defined above and technologies from TRL0 to TRL9. For this purpose, the department is equipped with state-of-the-art design and test facilities.
