ESTEC events

Events&Workshops

M-IND (Mid-size satellite INDustrialisation) aims to expand production capacity for mid-size LEO satellites, reducing costs and lead time for innovative LEO constellation missions.
M-IND focuses on:
<ul>
<li>LEO constellations for secure communications, resilient navigation, and frequent Earth observation</li>
<li>Mid-size satellites (100–500 kg, 200–2000 W) to be deployed at 300–1200 km altitude from 2028; electric propulsion may target satellites up to 750 or 1200 kg</li>
<li>Adapting recurring platform sub-systems (e.g., avionics, propulsion) for mass production and interoperability</li>
<li>Supporting a range of applications with a payload-agnostic, common-interface approach</li>
<li>Integrating institutional (ESA, EC, National) and commercial methodologies</li>
</ul>

About the workshop
This workshop will bring together Europe’s leading developers working at the crossroads of numerical modelling and space physics. It’s an opportunity for experts to showcase breakthrough research and innovative applications that advance our understanding of the Sun–Earth system.

The event will include an introduction from ESA, presentations from European Space Transportation Service Providers on their commercial interest in the selected technologies, followed by the short-listed Technology Providers who will present their disruptive ideas. ESA representatives, Member State Delegations, and SpaceTech Investors will also be in attendance.

ATD3 workshop is a long-standing European forum which aims at fostering technical and scientific discussions, collecting and disseminating knowledge, proposing new topics and activities, and contributing to planning efforts, including roadmap definition and coordination.
The main objectives of the ATD3 workshop are to:
<ul>
<li>Establish a framework for the verification, validation, and comparison of numerical methods used in space object reentry simulation tools.</li>
<li>Disseminate recent scientific and technical results within the ATD3 community, which includes academic participants (in particular PhD students) as well as experts from industry.</li>
<li>Coordinate and discuss future activities, with the goal of gathering expert perspectives from both academia and industry on forthcoming developments in the fields of aerothermodynamics and design for demise</li>
